Travel to and around Hawaii, for the first time Visitor's Primer

Six different islands in Hawaii are open to tourists. The majority of newcomers are planning a trip to one or more than one island have numerous questions about where to go and how exactly there. This primer will answer those questions.

All flights with Hawaiian Airlines Inter Island, Aloha Airlines, Air or Iceland. Cheap prices usually through the website or through the mainland flight company.

Oahu Hawaii is the hub of transport. Most mainland and International flights will fly to Honolulu International Airport (HNL). Travelers bound for another island, you may disembark and Inter Iceland on a flight to reach their destination. The airport is situated on the outskirts of Honolulu, about 20 minutes from Waikiki, and about 45 minutes by car from the North Shore. There are no ferries from Oahu to another Island.

Maui has three airports. The largest airport Kahalui Airport (OGG) is theallows direct flights from the west coast of the Americas. The drive from Kihei Wailea or less than half an hour, but can take an hour or Lahaina Kaanapali. Much closer to the area of Lahaina Kapalua Airport (JHM) but you can only fly there from Honolulu. Hana (HNM) also has an airport if you do not want to go, but you are under a very small area. Check with Pacific Wings. You can usually find day ferries from Maui, Molokai and Lanai.

Big Iceland(Appointed Hawaii, but called the Big Island to avoid confusion) of KOA has two airports, Hilo International Airport (ITO), and Keahole Airport (). The two airports are a 2.5 hour drive apart. Hilo is closest to Honokaa, Kapoho and Volcano. Keahole is in Kailua-Kona which is closest to all of Kona, Puako, Kohala, Waikoloa and Waimea. There are direct flights from the mainland only Keahole. There are ferries from Iceland to another Big Island.

Kauai has aAirport, Lihue Airport (LIH), in Lihue, and find direct flights from the mainland on some carriers. Lihue is about halfway to everything on the island - but a little 'closer to Poipu to Princeville. There are ferries from Kauai to any other island.

Molokai has one airport, Molokai Airport (MKK) in central Molokai. It is probably a small plane is usually no bigger than A-20 places. Air Iceland, is flying to Honolulu or Kahului. Small commercial vesselsAre you from the ferry to Maui Molokai.

Lanai has one airport, Lanai Airport (LNY), near Lanai City. Lanai airport also only accepts small airplanes. Air Iceland to fly to Honolulu. Commercial small boat from the ferry to Maui Molokai.

By 2007 Hawaii Super Ferry should be operating between the islands and all will hopefully revolutionize our current expensive and inefficient other Iceland Travel Systems. Until then book your flight online and early.
